Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
Epping is set to come alive with a vibrant mix of food and entertainment with its first monthly night market kicking off this month.
As part of a one-year trial, the markets will take place at Boronia Park on the last Friday of every month, with a special market planned for the end of the year.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said it was an exciting addition to the growing suburb of Epping.
“Epping is a key part of our growing region, and these new night markets are set to be a highlight on the local calendar,” Cr Zaiter said.
“The Epping Night Markets will not only showcase great food, local talent and a welcoming atmosphere, but also build connections and pride across our community.
“Great cities around the world are famous for their night markets and we know that locals wanted to see this come to life with 98 per cent of respondents to Council’s community engagement efforts supportive of the concept.”
More than 30 food and retail stalls selling artisan and hand-crafted goods, live music and roving entertainment will be onsite from 5-9pm on 24 April.
The night markets are being introduced at a time of growth in Epping, with the suburb projected to be home to more than 41,000 by 2050.
“Epping also has a young population, so it makes sense to launch these markets at Boronia Park in the heart of the suburb,” Cr Zaiter said.
“It’s also about boosting the economy - these markets are all about promoting a range of businesses to local residents in a relaxed, neighbourhood setting.”
The Epping Night Markets is proudly supported by City of Parramatta and delivered by AMA Event Management.
