Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
The federal government has held talks on the potential development of a new oil refinery as the war in the Middle East impacts Australia’s fuel supply.
The government has amended the investment mandate of the $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund, allowing it to consider proposals for expanding the country’s fuel-making capacity.
The fund is expected to focus on expanding existing oil refineries, but The Australian reports the government is also open to investment in a new refinery.
The Prime Minister will chair a meeting of the National Cabinet today to provide an update on fuel security.

‘I think we’ll see rationing’: Labor expected to impose fuel restrictions if Iran war does not end
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell has predicted the Albanese government will impose petrol rationing in “one to two months’ time” if the war in Iran does not end.
“Now, if the war ends, no drama, right? But if it doesn’t, I think we’re going to see petrol rationing,” Mr Clennell told Sky News Australia.
“I think we’re going to see the cancellation of some flights – that’s where we’re looking in about one to two months’ time.”
