MAJOR UPGRADE COMING TO LEPPINGTON STATION

(See translation in Arabic section)
Sydney - Middle East Times Int’l:
Transport for NSW will improve the ‘kiss and ride’ zone at Leppington Station, making it easier and more efficient to drop off and pick up passengers who are connecting with train and bus services.
To encourage drivers to use designated pick up and drop off areas, the existing northern station entry will be revamped to accommodate around 25 kiss and ride spaces.
Work will include moving the existing pedestrian crossing around 20 meters west, increased lane width to allow for additional pick up and drop off areas and new pedestrian fencing to prevent unsafe crossing of the road.
Signage, lighting, road pavement and line marking will be upgraded to support the changes.
During the work activities, there will be temporary parking losses and access changes. Access to commuter car parking will be maintained.
The changes will also support better access and increased safety for motorists travelling into the car park, with motorists less likely to use informal drop-off area.
The improvement work is expected to start in January 2025 and be completed by mid-2025.

Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty said:
“This much needed upgrade is a win for Leppington commuters, making it safer and easier to access the station for both drivers and pedestrians.
“The hundreds of signatures on my petition showed just how important this issue was, and I’m proud to see these improvements finally becoming a reality.
"With construction set to start in January, these upgrades will make the kiss and ride zone into a safer and more efficient space for everyone.”
