Sydney - Middle East Times Int’l: A new public amenity building, footpaths, ramps, stairs and landscaping are now open to the public, completing the upgrades to James Ruse Reserve in the heart of Parramatta.
The $1.2 million project provides much-needed amenities for visitors using the popular water play park, playground and skatepark, including dedicated change rooms, a baby change-table an accessible cubicle and toilets.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the project was about providing essential amenities and accessibility within the vibrant recreational hub.
“We’ve worked closely with our community to deliver a new amenity block and improve accessibility at James Ruse Reserve,” Cr Zaiter said.
“With the recently upgraded Robin Thomas Reserve next door, this project means we’re a step closer to bringing our Robin Thomas and James Ruse Reserves Master Plan to life.
“Our vision is to transform the existing recreational spaces in the heart of our City into an urban retreat for future generations to enjoy.”
State Member for Parramatta Donna Davis MP said: "Delivering an accessible toilet block at James Ruse Reserve is long overdue and I am thrilled that visitors to the much-loved water playground now have the amenities they need."
This project is funded by City of Parramatta and the NSW Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation Grants Program.
