Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
Football fever is set to take over Western Sydney, with Parramatta Square transforming into a live site for Socceroos matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Australia’s three group stage matches will be televised on a big screen at the square’s amphitheatre with extra entertainment provided during the daytime matches.
City of Parramatta Council Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the live site will bring football lovers from across the region to celebrate the prestigious tournament.

“Western Sydney lives and breathes football and there is no better place to come together and support the Socceroos than Parramatta Square,” Cr Zaiter said.
“We all know Parramatta is fast becoming the home of festivals, sports and entertainment and this is about our community gathering to celebrate our national team on the world stage.
“This is your chance to come down to the square and mingle with fellow football supporters amongst a sea of green and gold.”
A-League football club the Western Sydney Wanderers will be onsite for games on Sunday 14 June and Friday 26 June with an inflatable goal shooting target game, while panna cages will be set up for those wanting to challenge their friends in a head-to-head battle.
**
“As an emerging global City, it’s important we provide residents and visitors with the opportunity to watch the world’s biggest sporting event right here in Parramatta,” Cr Zaiter said.
“Our City will be alive with World Cup fever, so make the most of game day and bring your family and friends to dine out across our great eateries and shop in our vibrant retail precincts.”
