Cumberland
City Council invites residents, students, community groups and property
owners to take part in the Cumberland Local Heritage Awards and Rebate
Programs - a celebration of the people, places and stories that shape
our city.

This year’s theme is “Change – how has history changed us and how are we changing history?”

Heritage
is alive. It evolves with us, reflects who we are today, and helps
guide where we are going next. Whether you care for a heritage property,
research local history, or are discovering heritage for the first time,
there’s a category for you.

What’s up for grabs?
•    Heritage rebate of up to $4,000 (co payment) for eligible heritage projects
•    Bronze plaques, certificates and gift baskets
•    Book and eBook vouchers for students and children
•    Heritage accommodation, BridgeClimb Sydney or cultural cruises and tours

Awards program categories include:
1.    Best Maintained Heritage Property
2.    Restoration and Development (including adaptive re-use)
3.    HistoResearch – celebrating local history projects by students and residents
4.    Keeper of the Stone – inspiring primary school children to engage with heritage

Applications are open from Monday 9 March 2026 until Sunday 19 April 2026.
