The Centre of Information Affairs has, published the second volume of the book The Leader: Achievements and Accomplishments, which documents some of the efforts, achievements, and meetings of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed AI Nahyan, from October 1, 2007 to the end July.

It is a supplement to the first volume which provides illumination on some important aspects of the march of development and progress

under Shaikh Khalifa.

The book points out that the UAE, under its judicious leadership, has progressed and developed thanks to the firm belief, and moral values and traditions of its people, and achieved an economic and human miracle, which has elevated it, in the span of four decades, to the ranks of civilised nations.

It indicates that Shaikh Khalifa leads his people toward progress and prosperity in all fields, as he is determined to strengthen and maintain these achievements through his enlightened and progressive thought, his constant endeavour, and his comprehensive follow-up of the various stages of the programmes and strategies formulated to bring progress and happiness to the nation and its future.

The book quotes Shaikh Khalifa as saying: 'What we have reaped of fruits and welfare, throughout the past years, makes us more certain and confident about the capacity of our people to carry the strategies and plans to their intended goals and objectives.”              

In reference to the achievements accomplished in the UAE, he said:      

"Our people have managed in 36 years to bring About achievements that have gone beyond conception and imagination: a model experience of a federation, outstanding human development, A modern infrastructure, modern basic services, great economic successes, educated man, prosperity, well-being and security.”

It also sheds light on some measures ordered by Shaikh Khalifa to improve the quality of life for citizens, including decrees stipulating a rise in salaries for employees, civil and military, in the federal government and Abu Dhabi emirate.

This is in addition to other orders and decrees establishing services and investment institutions and enterprises, which all bode well for UAE society.

The book exhibits many of Shaikh Khalifa's field visits and tours to various places in the country to see on the ground the needs of the people. An example is his recent visit to the Western Region in July, during which he said: “The state will spare no effort to provide all requirements necessary to enable the citizen to serve his country in a way that suits the economic and social development already achieved."

The book tackles UAE international cooperation at regional and global levels, highlighting Shaikh Khalifa's participation in mutual meetings, visits, and consultations with heads of states and governments and senior officials in the world and the region, especially his meetings and consultations with his brothers, the leaders of the GCC countries. The book also documents Shaikh Khalifa's meetings with the leaders of friendly foreign countries, including with US President George W Bush. French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Juan Carlos I, King of Spain.

It also touches upon Shaikh Khalifa's stances over Arab issues, particularly those of Palestine, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan and Iraq.
