Coalition Unveils plan to restore living standards and put Australians First

Sydney- Middle East Times Int’l: Opposition Leader Angus Taylor and Senator Dave Sharma have outlined the Coalition’s economic and social priorities, promising lower taxes, more homes, stronger borders and cheaper energy as part of a plan to restore Australians’ living standards.
During a briefing with Arab media outlets, Mr Taylor and Senator Sharma said the Coalition’s approach was focused on easing cost-of-living pressures, supporting small businesses and creating greater opportunities for Australians to work, save, invest and own a home.
Mr Taylor said Australians had endured four years of higher taxes, rising government debt, housing shortages, weaker border controls and declining living standards under the Labor Government.
“Our plan is about letting Australians keep more of what they earn, lower taxes, cheaper power, restoring the dream of home ownership, backing small business, and putting Australians first,” Mr Taylor said.
He said that during his travels across the country, he had repeatedly heard concerns about falling living standards, the direction of the nation and a growing loss of confidence among Australians hoping to establish or expand businesses.
“Wherever I go across the country, I hear about the decline in Australians’ standard of living, concerns about the direction in which our country is heading and, most importantly, a sense of lost hope and aspiration to start and grow a business,” he said.
Mr Taylor claimed that under Labor, around 30 small businesses were closing every day, arguing that stronger private-sector growth was essential to rebuilding economic confidence.
“Government does not grow the economy — private enterprise does. The job of government is to get the big things right and back Australians to build, invest, work and succeed,” he said.
The Opposition Leader said the Coalition’s broader plan to “Fix the Economy and Protect Our Way of Life” would include lower taxes, cheaper power, reduced migration and increased housing supply.
A central element of the policy platform would be cutting what the Coalition describes as Labor Government waste and introducing its proposed Tax Back Guarantee, designed to allow Australians to retain more of their earnings.
Mr Taylor said the Coalition would continue to focus on protecting the economy, rebuilding living standards and ensuring government policy placed the interests and aspirations of Australians at the centre of decision-making.
“Every day, the Coalition will fight to protect our economy, restore Australians’ standard of living and put Australians first,” Mr Taylor said.
