Princess Sabeeka of Bahrain Attends “Freedom Palm”

H

.H Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women affirmed that Bahrain was and still is a place for peaceful coexistence between different religions and cultures and a living example for religious freedom.

She pointed out that Bahrain is known for its historical and civilized position whereby mosques and churches exist near each other and both the sound of Muslim call for prayer and the sound of the ringing of bells of churches can be heard, This, she said, represents the humanitarian and professional approach of dealing among the various religious sects of the society.

Princess Sabeeka highlighted that as part of the appreciation and recognition for the foreign community in Bahrain and their role in the economic development and investment, the kingdom of Bahrain made an initiative to allocate a forum for the foreign community residing in Bahrain to be involved in the National Consensus dialogue during 2011.

The dialogue outcome was forwarded to HM the king to be translated into an implementation plan for the state. Such move added reflects the democratic vision and approach for reform march in the kingdom of Bahrain, as well as it reflects the kingdom’s keen desire on exchanging views that fall in the interest of the kingdom and its future.

This came during Princess Sabeeka’s participation in the opening of the Freedom Palm Oasis in Notre-dame Cathedral in the French capital Paris in the presence of the private representative of HM the King Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and with the participation of prominent political and religious figures.

During her speech, Princess Sabeeka conveyed the thanks of HM the King for inviting the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate as a guest of honour in such religious freedom event. She said that the policy of the government of Bahrain aims at enhancing the concept of dialogue and spreading the culture of peace. This she added is something that the kingdom of Bahrain is keen on adopting during all international events, and comes as part of its efforts to combat violence and discrimination, as well as calling for peace and convergence among various religions.
