AFIC Condemns Attacks on Civilian Areas and Places of Worship in Saudi Arabia

Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) condemns the recent attacks attributed to Houthi forces targeting civilian areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Reports indicate that an attack in Al-Tuwal Governorate in the Jazan region resulted in injuries and damage to civilian property, including a mosque, buildings and vehicles.
Whatever the political or military circumstances of a conflict, civilians and civilian infrastructure must never be deliberately targeted. Places of worship must also be respected and protected.
AFIC President Dr Rateb Jneid said:
“There can be no justification for attacks that place civilians in danger or target the places where people gather to worship. Mosques, churches, synagogues and all places of worship must be protected from violence.”
“AFIC condemns attacks against civilians wherever they occur and calls on all parties to respect international law, protect civilian life and pursue peaceful means of resolving conflict.”
AFIC expresses its solidarity with those affected and prays for the swift recovery of those injured and for the safety and security of all civilians in the region.
