Parramatta Celebrates Culture and Language at inaugural Community Language School Spectacular, with Special Guest NSW Premier Chris Minns MP DATE 13/10/2025 Images of the event available here.. (See translation in Arabic section) Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: The spotlight shone brightly on Parramatta’s young performers as the curtains rose on the inaugural Parramatta Community Language School Spectacular. Hosted by State Member for Parramatta, Donna Davis MP, at the Bayanami Public School, the event celebrated the rich cultural diversity of the Parramatta electorate through music, dance, and poetry. Students from eight community language schools across the Parramatta electorate were invited to take to the stage, performing in front of a packed audience that included parents, community members, and special guest, Premier of New South Wales Chris Minns MP. The audience was treated to a vibrant showcase of traditional songs, dances, and poetry, all performed in community languages that reflect the cultural richness of Parramatta.
** The afternoon opened with a touching rendition of the Dari Alphabet Song, performed by some of the youngest students from the Afghan Community Language and Cultural School. Other standout performances included those from the Parramatta Arabic School, South Asian Australian Association and the Wentworthville Tamil Study Centre, who delivered beautifully choreographed cultural pieces. The event concluded with young students from the Qing Hua Chinese Language School performing traditional Chinese poems—underscoring the message that learning a second language is a superpower. State member for Parramatta Donna Davis addressing the audience With more than half of Parramatta’s residents born overseas and over 140 languages spoken in the community, the event served as a meaningful celebration of the area’s multicultural identity. Donna Davis MP said she was proud to host an event that not only highlighted Parramatta’s diversity but also gave young people a platform to express their heritage. Parramatta is home to so many talented children from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. This event gave them the opportunity to connect, perform, and take pride in their heritage. Participating schools said the event was an excellent opportunity to foster connections between communities and to showcase their students’ talents in front of the Premier and the wider public. Premier Chris Minns also took the opportunity to thank the many volunteers who support community language schools across New South Wales, acknowledging their critical role in preserving and passing on culture through language.
