Peace Without Justice Is Nothing but an Illusion 11/10/2025 (See translation in Arabic section) Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: 1. This ceasefire, if honoured, may bring a desperately needed halt to the killing — but it is not peace. True peace cannot come without justice. The world must not mistake silence for peace, nor rubble for resolution. Gaza’s wounds will not heal through denial or diplomatic convenience. 2. Justice begins with acknowledging what has happened, holding perpetrators accountable, and addressing the root causes — the occupation, the blockade, and the denial of Palestinian self-determination. Over a hundred thousand lives have been lost, entire families erased, and a nation pushed to the brink of annihilation. A ceasefire cannot erase these crimes — only justice can. 3. The homeless, the orphaned, the injured, and the bereaved are not statistics — they are the human cost of a world that has tolerated the intolerable for far too long. For peace to be real, it must be built on truth and accountability, not on the ashes of unacknowledged crimes. 4. This must not be another temporary pause before the next wave of destruction. Gaza does not need a pause in violence — it needs an end to oppression. We welcome any step that stops the bloodshed, but we refuse to celebrate a truce that leaves the machinery of occupation intact. 5. More than seventy-five years of dispossession cannot be resolved with political theatre. Only when Palestinians are free — truly free — will peace have meaning. Ending the blockade, dismantling apartheid, and restoring dignity to every Palestinian life are not negotiable goals — they are the foundations of any just future. ________________________________________ AFIC, established in 1964, stands as the Peak Muslim Organisation in Australia, with 170 members including 9 State and Territory Councils.
