Scott Morrison says ‘I Stopped These’ trophy boat was given to him by a mate

SCOTT Morrison says his ‘I Stopped These’ trophy boat was given to him by a mate and it has sat in his office for ‘about five years’.

PRIME Minister Scott Morrison says he has had a trophy of a boat with “I Stopped These” for about five years and is bemused with the attention it’s now getting.

Mr Morrison was the immigration minister who enforced the controversial policy to stop asylum seeker boats reaching Australia.

“It was given to me by a mate down in the Shire who runs a sign business. He loved the fact that we did that,” Mr Morrison told the Nine Network on Thursday.

“It has been sitting in my office, by the way, for about five years. I don’t think that there is anything terribly new about it.”

The trophy raised a few eyebrows when it was spotted in a photograph in a New York Times article following an interview with the new prime minister in his parliamentary office.
