Tributes for Australian Muslim leader - Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry

To the Australian National Imams Council,

12 July 2018

The Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry receives with regret the sad news of the passing away of Australia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Azeem al-Afifi.

Sheikh Abdul Azeem al-Afifi was a great Islamic role model and peace maker in the Australian community and he will always be remembered for his many lasting legacies. His dedication to building community bonds as a teacher, a mentor and role model for youth and indeed a champion for women's rights will be always honoured.

As the Chamber and our members convey our heartfelt condolences to his family and communities, we trust that the good work of the Australian National Imams Council continues to serve and enrich Muslim communities nationally and across the wider Australian diaspora.

Yours sincerely,

Roland Jabbour OAM

President and National Chairman

Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry
