Sydney - Middle East Times Int’l: City of Parramatta has donated $5,000 to the Westmead Hospital Foundation in support of local nurses and their unwavering commitment to our community in honour of International Nurses Day.
Councillors agreed to the donation through a Lord Mayor minute at last week’s council meeting to give back to the incredible nurses working in our local health care system.
International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May each year - the birthday of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in modern nursing and is a chance to recognise the contributions nurses make to our health care system.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber said International Nurses Day marks the important role of nursing around the world and especially here in our community.
“Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system, giving comfort, care, and expertise to patients when they need it most,” Cr Esber said.
“The Westmead Hospital Foundation has been supporting the Greater Western Sydney community for over 30 years.
“We recognise the dedication and positive difference our nurses make to our community, and this is just one of the ways we can show our support”.
Westmead Hospital Foundation general manager Bianca Crvelin said Westmead Hospital Foundation extended its heartfelt gratitude to Lord Mayor Esber and City of Parramatta for the generous contribution in support of the dedicated nurses and midwives at Westmead Hospital.
“This donation exemplifies Parramatta Council's commitment to recognising and appreciating the outstanding achievements of healthcare professionals,” Ms Crvelin said.
"We are immensely grateful to Parramatta Council for their unwavering support of our healthcare community.
