RIYADH: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, arrived in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), on Tuesday to lead the Sultanate of Oman's delegation in the 42nd Summit of GCC Leaders.

HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of KSA, headed the reception team welcoming HH Sayyid Fahd upon his arrival at the King Khalid International Airport.

HH Sayyid Fahd was also received by Dr Nayef Falah al Hajraf, GCC Secretary General and Plenipotentiary Minister Saif Nasser al Bada'ei, deputy head of the Sultanate of Oman's mission in Saudi Arabia.

HH Sayyid Fahd gave a press statement upon his arrival reading as follows:

"On the convening of the GCC 42nd Summit of GCC leaders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I am honoured to convey the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to his brethren, GCC leaders, along with His Majesty the Sultan’s best wishes to the leadership and people of KSA.

Since its foundation, the GCC has achieved many accomplishments in different fields. This reflects the member states’conviction in the importance of cooperation and collaboration to meet the aspirations of the GCC peoples.

The successive developments in the regional and international arenas have had their repercussions on the region’s countries. This requires the member states to exert more efforts and coordinate their stands to address the ensuing challenges and implications, so that they could focus on domestic development in a climate of security and stability.

The Sultanate of Oman reaffirms its constant support for the advancement of the GCC march. The Sultanate of Oman also expresses its appreciation for the efforts exerted by the KSA. It prays to the Almighty Allah to grant further progress and prosperity for the people of KSA and all GCC peoples."

HH Sayyid Fahd is accompanied by an official delegation comprising Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister; Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs; Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy; HH Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the KSA; and Abdullah bin Khalfan al Balushi, Head of the Private Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers.

Earlier, HH Sayyid Fahd was seen off at Muscat airport by Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al Salmi, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs; Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibani, Minister of Education; Shaikh al Fadhil bin Mohammed al Harthy, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers; Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat; Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information; Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism; and the Charge d'affaires of the Saudi Embassy in Muscat.
