President congratulates the Lebanese on Ramadan, receives congratulation message from his Palestinian counterpart

12 Apr 2021

Lebanon - President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, congratulated the Lebanese in general, and Muslims in particular on the occasion of the blessed Ramadan.

The President wrote the following Tweet:

“On the occasion of the Holy Ramadan, month of fasting, tolerance and forgiveness, I address the Lebanese in general, and Muslims in particular extending my congratulations, and asking God to accept their fasting”.

Moreover, President Aoun received a congratulation letter from his Palestinian counterpart, President Mahmoud Abbas.

Former Minister Wadih Al-Khazen:

President Aoun met the Dean of the Maronite General Council, former Minister Wadih Al-Khazen, today at the Presidential Palace, and deliberated with him latest developments.

After the meeting, Al-Khazen said:

“I was honored to meet his Excellency, President Michel Aoun. We tackled internal affairs, especially the governmental situation and the formation of the new government which shouldn’t be delayed anymore, in light of the current worrying economic and living situations.

I felt His Excellency’s insistence on the fairness of national unity in dealing with the government formation crisis, which has prolonged more than it should have. This crisis has become threatening to safety, and may bring risks to the security of all citizens who are eager to exit this disturbing cycle.

I also touched the President’s rejection for the “Blocking Third”, warning against the escalating crisis which threatens the future of our country, and fearing the fate of all promised aids. His Excellency, the President, is continuing his consultations to seek a quick solution which leads to the formation of a salvation government, tasked with a mission to oversee the smooth progress of forensic audit which has begun to affect all state sectors. All that would result in work returning to state institutions, and that political life is organized enabling the judiciary to regain its independence. It is imperative to support the directives of the President of the Republic and facilitate his mission with the PM-Designate, in order to reach a government which satisfies all citizens. A government which would consolidate Lebanon’s unity in order to perpetuate sedition and resettlement projects.

If in the past we have missed many opportunities to save the country from drowning and we don’t seize this precious opportunity we have today, then we will have judged ourselves that we are a people who do not deserve to enjoy a country like Lebanon”.

Condolences to the British Queen:

The President condoled British Queen, Elizabeth II, on the death of her husband, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip.

President Aoun also condoled Crown Prince Charles.

President Aoun’s condoling telegram:

“I heard the news of death of Prince Phillip with great sorrow. He left a sober imprint in the conscience of your friendly Kingdom which links Lebanon by a historical friendship. Your royal family was the sure supporter for Lebanon’s unity, Lebanese safety and safety of their land.

Therefore, Britain and late Prince Philip, have a special place in the hearts of the Lebanese.

I share the great pain of the death of a companion of your life Your Majesty, and offer Your Majesty, the Royal Family and your friendly people, the deepest heartfelt condolences, in my name and in the name of the Lebanese people. I also ask God to have mercy on his soul, accepting him among the righteous.

May God preserve you for many years with all his blessings, and grant you the determination to continue the mission for which he chose you in the service of Great Britain and its glorious future”. ----Presidency Press Office
