UK general election a 'turning point' for the country The re-election of PM, Boris Johnson, confirms that "getting Brexit done" is the will of the British people. 14/12/2019 British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says his government has been given a "powerful, new mandate" to 'get Brexit done' as he revelled in the Conservative Party's historic UK election victory. "Let's get Brexit done. But first, let's get breakfast done," Mr Johnson said. As the final election result confirmed the Conservatives had won a large majority of 80 seats in the House of Commons, Mr Johnson used a victory message to urge the country to come together. "I urge everyone to find closure and let the healing begin," he said. "Parliament must change so that we are working for you the British people and that is now what we'll do." Shifting to his domestic campaign pledges Mr Johnson said his "overwhelming" priority after Brexit would be investing in the National Health Service. |
