Omani people open up their homes and hearts

In a gesture that demonstrates generosity of the Omani community, many people have announced their willingness to help those who have left their homes because of Mekunu. The people of Sultanate are also praying to Allah to protect the Dhofar Governorate and bring in rains.

Some have rented out buildings and donated them as free accommodation. Some companies have also announced their willingness to provide services during this period. Shaikh Salem bin Ahmed Khalfan al Barimi thrown open the building in Salalah’s 23 July street for residents and expat workers. Dr Saleh bin Said Musin, said he rented Thamreet hotel to receive those from affacted areas. He added in his account in twitter “our own houses are opened for all. We are honored to have you any time”.

A number of furnished rooms and apartments were also donated by Ali Muhad Quten, next to Dhofar University, for those who are looking for shelter during the cyclone. Quten said that full meals will be also served for the guests. The government has also converted a number of schools as backup shelters.
