Abbas hails Oman’s support for Palestinians

RAMALLAH: Mahmud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, received at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah on Thursday Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, and his delegation, who are currently visiting the Palestinian territories.

At the beginning of the meeting, Alawi conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to the Palestinian president and His Majesty’s appreciation to him, the leadership and to the Palestinian brotherly people.

On his part, the Palestinian president asked Alawi to convey his sincere greetings to His Majesty the Sultan and his wishes of good health and well-being to His Majesty.

The president welcomed the Omani delegation which is currently visiting Palestine, saying that this visit is a great support for the Palestinian people, who highly appreciates the leadership, government and people of the Sultanate.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments regarding the Palestinian issue and the efforts of the Palestinian leadership with various countries in the light of the recent US administration decision on Al Quds Al Sharif. The Palestinian president granted the Greater Jerusalem Star to Alawi in recognition of his efforts and positions in serving the causes of the Arab nation, and in the forefront of which is the question of Palestine and high esteem for his ethics and wise diplomacy.

Alawi also met separately Dr Rami al Hamdallah, Palestinian Prime Minister, Dr Nasser al Qidwa, a member of Fatah Central Committee, and Ola Awadh, head of the Central Statistics Bureau.
