Sydney - M. E. TIMES: Under the patronage of His Eminence Archbishop Antoine Charbel Tarabay, Pastor of the Maronite Diocese of Australia and in co-operation with local Islamic and Christian spiritual authorities, the MaroniteCare in collaboration with the Institute of Maronite studies held -- on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield, -- a religious ceremony entitled "Interfaith Encounter" to celebrate the Annunciation in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary and to pray for peace.

The meeting was attended by political, diplomatic, religious, academic and social figures.

The speakers stressed on the importance of the Annunciation as a crossroad between Christianity and Islam. The ceremony included reciting verses from the Holy Quran by Sheikh Khalid Zreika as well as hymns of the Virgin Mary. the Master of ceremonies were Mrs. Giselle Dumit and Dr. Imad Berro.  It ended with candlelight in front of the Virgin Mary statute. Memorial pictures were taken and everyone was invited to a cocktail for the occasion.
