Dhofar Governorate gears up for National Day celebrations

SALALAH: Dhofar Governorate is prepping to celebrate the 52nd National Day under the patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. His Majesty the Sultan will preside over the military parade at Al Nasr Square in Salalah, on November 18. 
HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, said: “This glorious national occasion is considered an opportunity to review the progress and development that took place in various development sectors in Dhofar Governorate in particular and the Sultanate of Oman in general.” 
In an interview with ONA and Oman TV, HH Sayyid Marwan said that several government departments will be launching development projects over the upcoming period in sectors like healthcare, tourism and logistics aimed at realising comprehensive sustainable development. 
Regarding decentralisation and the governorate system, HH Sayyid Marwan affirmed that the issuance of the new system which seeks to upgrade the decentralisation mechanism and enhance governance and integration between different entities to tap the potential and resources of each governorate.
Dhofar Governorate is teeming with tourism potential and most importantly the Dhofar khareef season, the governor said underscoring the importance of preparing a document for strategic urban projects in Dhofar Governorate, and the structuring of the Greater Salalah that would enhance decentralisation in the governorate.
Asked about the role of youth and how to benefit from their thoughts, HH Sayyid Marwan said that the young people now assume a greater role especially since the Oman Vision 2040 was laid down. Omani youth are now taking part in many strategies including the urban strategy in Dhofar. He affirmed the attention accorded to the thoughts and innovations of young people and their contribution to decision-making and decision-taking. 
Regarding the media sector, the governor pointed to the great progress made by the state media and other media channels in activating the partnership and generating executable ideas.
The investment sector overlaps with a number of vital sectors which include tourism, logistics, industry and food security which is based on agriculture, fisheries and water resources as per Oman Vision 2040, the governor said. 
HH Sayyid Marwan underscored the role of the citizens in tapping the potentials and executing the strategies through the executive plans, underscoring the importance of system integration in the stage of digital transformation.
