US: Israel settlement expansion in West Bank "deeply damages" two-state solution prospect

07/05/2022

WASHINGTON-- The US strongly opposeses Israel's planned settlement expansion in the West Bank, saying it "deeply damages" prospects for a two-state solution with the Palestinians, the State Department said on Friday.

"The Biden administration has been clear from the outset. We strongly oppose the expansion of settlements which exacerbates tensions and undermines trust between the parties," spokesperson Jalina Porter told reporters over the phone.

"Israelآ’s program of expanding settlements deeply damages the prospect for a two-state solution," she added.
