Oman reaffirms solidarity with Palestine

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, held on Thursday a session of political talks with Dr Riyad Najeeb al Maliki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine.

The session reviewed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and means of promoting them. It also discussed the recent developments in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Sayyid Badr underscored the solidarity of the Sultanate’s government and people with Palestine, reiterating the Sultanate’s constant stance that supports the Palestinian cause in establishing an independent country with East Jerusalem as its capital, as per the two-state solution and the relevant international resolutions.

From his side, the Palestinian minister conveyed thanks and appreciation of the Palestinian leadership and people for the Sultanate’s supporting stance of their cause and the Palestinian people’s right in establishing an independent state. He also applauded the Sultanate’s condemnation of the Israeli assaults, in addition to the efforts the Sultanate exerted with the Arab and international parties in a bid to achieve peace based on international law principles and the two-state solution.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Tayseer Ali Farhat, Palestine’s Ambassador to the Sultanate, and a number of officials from both sides.

Later in the day, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh and his delegation left here concluding a three-day visit.

He was seen off by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary for Diplomatic Affairs, Dr. Khalid bin Said al Jaradi, Head of the Protocols Department at the Foreign Ministry, and Dr Tayseer Ali Farhat, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Sultanate.
