His Excellency Khalid Bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of the University City and Mohamed Hage, NSW Chairman of the Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

His Excellency Khalid Bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of the University City, and Mohamed Hage, NSW Chairman of the Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed the importance of education to both economies and lifting the collaboration between Sharjah University City and Australia.

With the foresight of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah has become one of the most important learning centres in the Middle East. A multi-dimensional education system with a wide and varied network of schools, colleges and institutions for further education has played a pivotal role in the development of Sharjah. The campus also houses the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies, Sharjah Police Academy, Institute of Training & Judicial Studies, Regional Centre for Educational Planning, College of Law and University City Hall.

The MENA region is a strategic regional market for the Australian Education and Training Sector. The visit also discussed Sharjah University City joint supervision of PhD students, trans-national education and the increasing need for higher level of English language skills.

Mohamed Hage also visited the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies accompanied by His Excellency Khalid Bin Butti Al Hajri. The Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre is a magnificent cornerstone providing researchers with comprehensive and integrated historical and geographical information tracing the development, history and heritage of life in the Arabian Gulf. The centre contains a number of exhibits that come directly from His Highness’s private collection; original historical maps, the very first images of the region and rare coins with special relevance to the Gulf.
