President AOUN Comments on Beirut Raid: Continued Israeli Attacks on Lebanon Unacceptable Under Any Pretext
28/04/2025
(See translation in Arabic section)
Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Sunday evening that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity are "unacceptable under any pretext."
Aoun added in statements reported by the Lebanese National News Agency: "The United States and France, as guarantors of the cessation of hostilities agreement, must assume their responsibilities and compel Israel to immediately cease its attacks."
He pointed out that "Israel's continued undermining of stability will exacerbate tensions and expose the region to real dangers that threaten its security and stability."
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation army launched violent raids on Sunday evening, targeting a building in the Hadath neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut with an airstrike, shortly after issuing an evacuation warning, in preparation for bombing the building. Reports later indicated that Israeli drones flew over Beirut's southern suburbs, while the Israeli army launched two "warning" airstrikes. Meanwhile, the southern suburbs witnessed a displacement movement before the Israeli army launched its aggression. This is the second Israeli airstrike targeting Beirut's southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah went into effect on November 27.
