31 killed and 100 wounded in US airstrikes on Houthis 17/03/2025 (See translation in Arabic section) Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l: Houthi media reported that approximately 31 people were killed and 101 wounded in US strikes targeting Houthi sites in Yemen. The US airstrikes against the Houthis have killed more than 30 people and more than 100 people were injured, according to a new toll announced by the Houthis on Sunday morning. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched a series of operations consisting of precision strikes against Houthi targets across Yemen "to defend US interests, deter adversaries, and restore freedom of navigation," according to a command statement. For its part, the American website Axios reported that the US airstrikes on Yemen will not be a one-off, noting that attacks against the Houthis could continue for days or even weeks. Eyad al-Mawsimi, a correspondent for Cairo News, said that "the US raids targeted the Houthi al-Qusayr camp in Qifah, north of the city of Rada'a in al-Bayda Governorate, in addition to the coastal Hajjah Governorate in Yemen." He noted that the US raids also targeted the central area of Dhamar city and the Anas district in central Yemen. Houthi media reported that the US raids renewed on the Alaf area in the Sahar district of Saada, northern Yemen. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered the US military to launch "decisive and forceful" military operations against the Houthi group in Yemen. It is worth noting that the Houthis had suspended their attacks on ships following the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas, reached on January 19. |
