Sydney-Middle East Times Int'l:
Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam indicated that "rumors about forming the government are increasing day after day and we must be patient to avoid confusion."
In a statement from Baabda Palace after meeting with President Joseph Aoun, he said: "I have an understanding with the President of the Republic and am in daily contact with the representatives and I will not back down from the criteria I adopted to form the government."
He explained that he wants a government based on the principle of separating representation from the ministry and on high national competencies and a government in which there are no candidates for municipal or parliamentary elections and no representation for parties and it will be made up of 24 ministers, stressing that "any talk about me not applying the criteria should not be considered and I will remain flexible in dealing with everyone and we will overcome the difficulties and we hope that the light will come out soon to reach a government that will rescue Lebanon from its crises."
He said: "The delay in forming the government is not because of me, and I am not the one who puts obstacles, and if there are difficulties, we will overcome them," stressing that no ministry is considered the monopoly of a sect, and that no sect is banned from any ministry.
