Fouad Makhzoumi is a businessman and a member of the Lebanese parliament who is currently positioned in the category of what is known as the opposition forces in Lebanon, which opposed the influence of Iran and "Hezbollah" in the past years. Today, the opposition forces nominated him to be named Prime Minister in the first government that Lebanon is expected to form during the era of the President of the Republic of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, which is likely to reflect the new balances in Lebanese political life after the fall of the Syrian regime and the decline of Tehran's influence.
It is expected that Lebanon will witness parliamentary consultations early next week to name a new Prime Minister. The name of the current caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, is still strongly present, with high chances of returning to the government palace.
