Statement from Metro Petroleum 12 August 2026 (See translation into Arabic Section) Sydney- Middle East Times Int’l: Metro Petroleum has a zero-tolerance approach to the sale of illicit tobacco and vaping products. We are deeply disappointed to have been informed that nine stores have been issued with closure orders. We will continue to cooperate fully with the Australian Border Force, the Australian Federal Police, NSW Police and any other relevant agencies, and we welcome action aimed at removing illicit tobacco from the market. Metro Petroleum can confirm that it has taken immediate steps to terminate its arrangements with these operators. Metro Petroleum is a petroleum brand and fuel supplier. We do not operate, employ staff for, or manage the retail businesses conducted at Metro Petroleum-branded locations. These businesses are operated by independent operators, who are responsible for complying with all laws governing the products sold at their sites. Metro Petroleum does not receive any share of non-fuel sales. When Metro Petroleum becomes aware of unlawful conduct at any site associated with its brand, it acts immediately, including terminating lease arrangements and notifying the relevant authorities. |
