The Lebanese Presidency revealed the contents of a congratulatory telegram sent by US President Donald Trump to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of Lebanon's independence.
The Lebanese Presidency stated that Trump, in his congratulatory telegram to Aoun on the occasion of Independence Day, affirmed his desire to deepen the partnership between the United States and Lebanon: "As we work together to build a brighter future for generations to come."
According to the Lebanese Presidency's statement, the telegram read: "On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my warmest congratulations to you and the people of Lebanon on the 82nd anniversary of your country's independence."
Trump added: "This day embodies a celebration of Lebanon's rich history, vibrant culture, and the enduring spirit of its people. Lebanon stands at a historic crossroads, with an opportunity to chart a course toward greater stability and economic prosperity for Lebanon and its people," as reported by Russia Today.
The US president continued, "I commend the courageous decisions made by this administration, and I look forward to deepening the partnership between our two countries as we work together to build a brighter future for generations to come."
In a separate statement, the Lebanese presidency indicated that Aoun received a phone call from his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who congratulated him on the 82nd anniversary of Lebanon's independence.
President Sisi reiterated the Arab Republic of Egypt's support for Lebanon and the Egyptian people's solidarity with their Lebanese brothers and sisters during these challenging times.
