The evening featured traditional drumming, dancing, and a festive meal, all in honour of Mr Burke’s re-election and the continued success of the ALP under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese which retained office resoundingly. In his speech, Mr Burke paid tribute to his supporters and the people of Watson. “I love this country,†he began. “I love what we stand for. And I love that here in Watson, we represent the very best of Australia; diversity, community, and a shared commitment to fairness.â€

He continued by acknowledging those who made the victory possible. “This result is not about me, it’s about every single volunteer, every supporter, and every person who took the time to believe in our vision for a fairer Australia. I want to thank Jihad Dib MP and Sophia Cotsis MP, who have been pillars of support throughout this journey. And to Dr Jamal Rifi, Mayor Bilal Hayek and Councillor Rachelle Harika. That’s the kind of politics we believe in; one where no one is left behind.†He concluded on a note of commitment and humility: “This victory means I get to keep doing the job I love, representing the people I care deeply about. I promise I will not take that for granted.
