Emir of Qatar plays host to Omani Sultan as countries sign off on six agreements

Sydney - M E Times Int'l: OMANI Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, held a round of official talks at the Amiri Diwan in Doha. At the start, Shaikh Tamim expressed his warm welcome to His Majesty the Sultan for accepting the invitation while the Sultan expressed his appreciation to Shaikh Tamim for the warm welcome and hospitality. During the session, the two leaders discussed areas of co-operation between their countries and ways of promoting them. The session also reviewed other matters of common interest. The session was also attended by senior officials from both sides. Afterwards, His Majesty the Sultan and Shaikh Tamim held a closed-door session.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani witnessed the signing of six agreements covering military co-operation, tax evasion, labour, investment, tourism and transport. The military co-operation agreement was signed by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said and Dr Khalid Mohammed al Attiyah.
The agreement on avoidance of double taxation and income and capital tax evasion was signed by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi and his Qatari counterpart Ali Ahmed al Kuwari. The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of labour and human resources development. The MoU was signed by Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain and his Qatari Counterpart Dr Ali Said al Marri.
The investment agreement was signed by Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority and Mansoor Ibrahim al Mahmood, CEO of Qatar Investment Authority. Al Murshidi and Al Mahmood also signed the agreements on tourism and maritime transport and ports.
Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar, hosted luncheon at the Emiri Diwan in honour of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on the occasion of His Majesty’s visit to Qatar.
The luncheon was attended by the official delegations of the Omani and Qatari sides, shaikhs of the Qatari Royal Family and Qatari dignitaries.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik and Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar exchanged orders at the Amiri Diwan in the Qatari capital, Doha.
His Majesty the Sultan conferred the Oman Civil Order “Frist Class” on Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of Qatar. The order is considered one of the loftiest Omani orders, which is conferred on kings and presidents whose countries are bound by distinguished relations with the Sultanate of Oman.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Qatar conferred on His Majesty the Sultan the “Sword of the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani”, the highest Qatari order.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both sides.
