Lebanon: It seems that there is no escape from donkeys these days, even though the price of a donkey exceeded 10 million Lebanese pounds, the highest price ever, after its price in the past was the cheapest of radishes according to the popular proverb.

It is heading towards dollarization.

It is not surprising that the phenomenon of donkey riding will spread in coming days and its owners may be more creative riding it by placing a hood on it to protect it from coming rain, or a cart for four people; some may take it as a means of transporting passengers between villages. All of these possibilities are possible in light of the deterioration of living conditions amid very tragic financial conditions.

The donkey market has returned as merchants offer their donkeys in the Khan market of Hasbaya amid an increase in demand for donkeys, especially between villages, as a primitive and inexpensive means of transportation.

Donkeys do not require a mechanic who costs hundreds of dollars and does not need gas whose price rises every two days.

A thousand pounds, according to expectations, and “a little water and herbs” is all you need.
