Chinese FM praises Kuwait's unique role on regional and int'l issues

BEIJING-- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised Kuwait's unique and constructive role towards regional and national issues.
This came during a meeting he held last Friday in the Uzbek capital Tashkent with Kuwait Foreign Minister and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, the Chinese Minister stressed on his countryآ’s readiness to cooperate with Kuwait to enhance the 50-year-old bilateral relations, support Kuwait in protecting its sovereignty, security, stability and promote the ties further.
Minister Yi said that Kuwait was the first Gulf Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with China, adding that the two countries had established an "unbreakable friendship" during the course of relations that spanned fifty years.
He expressed Beijing's willingness to build a comprehensive industrial strategic partnership with Kuwait in the fields of energy, information technology, artificial intelligence and cyber security.
Minister Yi also manifested hope to work with Kuwait to resume the China-GCC FTA (Free Trade Agreement) talks and elevate China-Arab cooperation to higher levels.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister met with his counterpart on Friday on sidelines of the International Conference (Central Asia and South Asia), held in Tashkent on July 15-16.
