HM Sultan Haitham chairs meeting of Supreme Judicial Council

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik chaired a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council at Al Barakah Palace on Thursday.

The meeting comes in pursuance of His Majesty’s attention to promote the judicial work after the issuance of Royal Decree No (35/2022) on governing the administration of judicial affairs.

During the meeting, His Majesty the Sultan underlined the contents of this Royal Decree that come in line with the Basic Law of the State and goals of Oman Vision 2040. His Majesty also stressed the importance enhancing integration between all judicial authorities on the one hand, and between them and other units of the state’s administrative apparatus in a manner that serves the public interest.

His Majesty instructed that all necessary legal measures to be taken for the amendment of the laws and royal decrees related to the judicial work in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned decree.

His Majesty also underscored the importance of continue upgrading the judicial system and the governance of its procedures to cope with the government’s approach towards digital transformation and meet Oman Visions 2040 in a bid to achieve the desired goals.

His Majesty the Sultan also instructed the Appeal Administrative Departments and the Primary Administrative Departments to continue considering the cases brought before them until the beginning of the next judicial year, provided that the consideration of cases shall resume in accordance with the aforementioned Royal Decree at the beginning of the judicial year.

May the almighty Allah protect His Majesty the Sultan as a source of pride for this dear homeland. May He perpetuate the blessings of prosperity and welfare on all citizens and residents!
