Theft of cemetery doors ‘disrespectful’: Joumaa

06 April 2021

Lebanon: A member of the "Al-Wafa to the Resistance" bloc, MP Anwar Joumaa has criticised the “impudence” of protestors Rayak in central Bekaa who stole iron doors from the town’s cemetery. Tens of doors to above-ground mausoleum crypts were stolen during the Easter season.

“The graves must be respected,” Joumma said. He said the graves represented the history of the region and cemeteries should be sacrosanct.

Joumma said there were “prohibitions that are violated in all regions that must be addressed, and we will raise our voice and act according to our responsibilities.” He said “solidarity and love” were needed for the resurrection of Lebanon.
