Merkel's advisor hails Kuwaiti role in promoting Mideast security

BERLIN-- German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Advisor Jan Hecker praised on Wednesday Kuwait's role in promoting security and stability in the Middle East region.

In a statement issued by the Kuwaiti embassy in Germany, the official expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts made by Kuwait in the field of relief and crisis prevention.

Hecker also valued the "distinguished" relations between Berlin and Kuwait.

The German official's remarks came, according to the statement, after a meeting with the Kuwaiti ambassador to Germany, Najeeb Al-Bader.

For his part, Al-Bader told KUNA after the meeting, that took place at the headquarters of the German Chancellery, that both discussed a number of bilateral issues of common interest.

He noted the two countries' coordination and joint cooperation on many issues of mutual interest and their desire to develop this cooperation to higher levels.
