Four states urge Israel to stop annexation forever

24/09/2020

AMMAN-- Jordan along with Egypt and France as well as Germany on Thursday called on Israel to cease annexing Palestinian territories permanantly and urged for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the two states' basis.

The states, in a joint statement after a meeting of their foreign ministers including their German peer who virtually participated, expressed opposition to Tel Aviv's recent decision to suspend annexation of more Palestinian lands, stressing that such a step must be sustainable.

The ministers held the meeting to discuss peace efforts for the Middle East.

Construction and expansion of settlements as well as expropriation of Palestinian properties breach international laws and jeopardize efforts for settling the conflict on the two states' basis, they said in the joint statement.
