Geagea calls on Aoun, Diab to give the Lebanese Army its strategic decision back

01 Aug 2020

Lebanon - Lebanese Forces Party Leader, Samir Geagea, called Saturday on President of the Republic Michel Aoun, Prime Minister Hassan Diab, and the government to give the army its strategic decision back.

"This decision, which was taken from the Lebanese army under the tutelage era, is one of the most basic rights of the legitimate military institution. The absence of a strategic military decision in the military institution was and remains one of the main reasons for the situation currently prevailing in Lebanon," he said.

Geagea then indicated that the situation in southern Lebanon was "manipulated on the altar of regional policy", without taking into account either the interests of the people or the catastrophic situation, in particular the daily living and sanitary conditions, as well as and the consequences of any anticipated escalation.
