Julie Owens Community Bulletin - Tax Status of Men's and Women's Sheds

Dear Community Leader,

I am sorry for the short timeframe on this communication to you.

The Government is seeking comment on the proposed new deductible gift recipient (DGR) general category for Men's and Women's Sheds.  Comments close on the 14th February.  There is a range of information on the site.  I suggest you start with the FAQ and if you want more info, read the Explanatory Materials.

New Deductible Recipient (DGR) Category for Men's Sheds and Women's Sheds

You are invited to comment on the proposed new deductible gift (DGR) general category for Men's and Women's Sheds. DGR status allows an organisation to receive gifts for which donors can claim an income tax deduction. These DGR tax arrangements are intended to encourage philanthropy and provide support for the not-for-profit sector.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office on 02 9686 1455.

Kind regards,

Julie Owens
