KRCS chief elected to RCRC Standing Commission

GENEVA-- Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Hilal Al-Sayer was elected on Wednesday as member of the Standing Commission of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) for a four-year term.

The election of the standing commission was held during the 33rd International Conference of the RCRC, being held here on December 9-12.

Speaking to KUNA following the election, Al-Sayer said the State of Kuwait maintains outstanding stances in support of humanitarian action on all levels worldwide. Kuwait is looking forward to boosting the activities of the RCRC Standing Commission in the next period, he affirmed.

KRCS was elected as member of the RCRC in recognition of its role in promoting humanitarian action, he said, thanking all societies and governments which voted for Kuwait.

He stressed the importance of Kuwait's role in humanitarian and voluntary acts, which gained the world's confidence, noting that KRCS's membership at RCRC shows Kuwait's humanitarian diplomacy.

Al-Sayer pointed out that Kuwait has always been a leading country responding to humanitarian initiatives so as to mitigate sufferings of the victims of the conflicts and disputes. Kuwait has a wise foreign diplomacy at the international arenas, he said, adding that the country catches the world's attention in this field so many seeks its humanitarian support.

He said that this election "has brought about big responsibilities
