RAHI Meets Benin Foreign Minister, CAlls to Dissociate Syria's Political Solution From Refugees' Repatriation

17 Oct 2019

Lebanon - Maronite Patriarch, cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Rahi, met last night (Wednesday) with Foreign Minister of the West African Republic of Benin, Aurélien Agbenonci, representing Beninese President, Patrice Talon.

The pair reportedly discussed the current general situation in the two countries, in addition to the condition of the Lebanese Diaspora in Benin.

Rahi later attended a reception ceremony held in his honor by Lebanon's Honorary Consul in Benin, Toni Shaghouri.

In his speech, the Patriarch highlighted the need to raise the voice high to call for ending war in Syria, Iraq and Palestine, and for the repatriation of refugees.

"We call all the friendly countries to dissociate the political solution in Syria from the return of refugees," he stressed.

"Lebanon can no longer pay the price of wars that it has nothing to do with," he concluded.
