PUIC elects Kuwait's Al-Kanderi for executive membership
Rabat-- The Association of Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States Secretaries General has elected Kuwait's Parliament Secretary General Allam Al-Kanderi for the membership of its executive office.
Al-Kanderi's election came during the Association's second meeting on Monday on the sidelines of the 14th Session of the PUIC Conference in Rabat, Morocco.
"Secretaries of Muslim parliaments have approved our proposal in forming an executive office to run the Association's affairs since there are 57 Muslim nations around the world, which also means 57 secretaries," he said.
The executive office's duty is also to coordinate between secretaries of Muslim parliaments, he said, adding the office's board of representatives consists of three members representing Arab, Asian, and African nations.
Such an election reflects Arab and Muslim parliaments' confidence in the Kuwaiti parliament and its active role, said Al-Kanderi.
