Minister hails Kuwait Amir role in creation of Al-Arabi magazine

17/12/2018

CAIRO-- Kuwait's Information Minister and Minister of Youth Mohammad Al-Jabri praised His Highness the Amir's role in the creation of the renowned Al-Arabi magazine, which focuses on culture, art, literature, history and the society of the Arab region.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was head of Kuwait's state publishing house when the first issue was published, back in 1958.

At an event celebrating 60 years since then, held at the Kuwait Embassy in Cairo, the minister praised the periodical as an "important cultural beacon in the Arab world which has benefitted many generations and continues to unite its readers under one language." Highlighting the Kuwaiti government's support of the magazine, he said its stems from a belief in the "importance of intellectual and cultural connectivity in outlining an Arab ideology capable of facing global challenges." The renowned periodical also gained the recognition of former Arab League chief Amr Moussa, who said it represents the "true image of Arab culture."
