The meeting was held under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council and Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.

State Council, Majlis hold joint session on Royal orders

Muscat: In response to the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the first joint session of the fourth annual sitting of the sixth term of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura was held on the premises of the State Council at Al Bustan.

The session was held under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council and Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.

Chairman of the State Council started the session with a speech in which he said that this session comes in response to the royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said related to returning the draft excise tax law to the Council of Oman to come out with a standard vision towards the articles of difference between the State Council and Majlis and the articles which the State Council sought to add to the draft law.

During the session which comes within the framework of the Royal interest to integrate the state of the institutions and law, articles of difference between the State Council and Majlis and the draft excise law, which was referred by the Council of Ministers, were discussed alongside with the report of the joint committee regarding them to preparing for raising the draft law to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

On the other hand, members of the State Council and Majlis stressed the importance of reaching consensus on the articles of the draft law to serve public interest.

The Chairman of the State Council congratulated members of the 48th Glorious National Day appealing to Allah to ensure many happy returns of the Day, good health and welfare for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and for the Omani people further progress and prosperity.

The session was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the State Council, the two deputies of the Chairman of Majlis, honourable members of the State Council, members of Majlis Al Shura, the Secretary General of the State Council and Secretary General of Majlis Al Shura.
