BRUSSEL-- The Legal Counselor at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and official at the Kuwaiti embassy in the Netherlands Tareq Al-Shimaimri said Saturday that Kuwait was preparing for an upcoming visit by Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, a Somali international lawyer and President of ICJ, to the country.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Kuwait and ICJ as well as preparations for the upcoming visit, Al-Shimaimri told KUNA after his meeting with the ICJ President at the Peace Palace in The Hague.

The invitation to visit Kuwait is from the Kuwaiti Judicial Council, Counselor Yousef Al-Mutawa, and Fhad Al-Afasi, Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, he added.

This invitation reflects the strong and distinguished relationship between Kuwait and ICJ, said the official.

Al-Shimaimri said that the visit included a series of meetings with the President of the Kuwaiti Judicial Council, the Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and other officials.
