Hariri: The government is not taking shape as long as there is claims for relations with the Syrian regime

As the stock market fluctuates, also information on the progress achieved in the government negotiations and the problems in forming the government goes up and down.

If the concerned and participating parties are refusing to link the excessive delay in the government formation with regional developments, especially the developments in Syrian for their direct impact on the situation in Lebanon, the results of the current communications and consultations highlighted the progress on the distribution of quotas, which was regarded by political sources as a sign of a solution based on two main elements:

First, the Free Patriotic Movement waiver of the one-third blocking minority and start looking for the third Druze Durzi minister, with the support of the presidents Nabih Berri and Saad Hariri, without the emergence of opposition from the Socialist Party so far. Stressing that the high ceilings shown by the political positions do not reflect the reality of the formation, which is a weapon usually used during the stage of formation.

On the other hand, being cautiously optimistic and even pessimistic may contribute to the government formation soon as long as problems do not find a way into final solution.

In this atmosphere, Prime Minister Hariri said in a chat with journalists ahead of his weekly meeting with the Future Movement that he will visit the president of the republic when he will have new input up his sleeve. He described the stumbling block as a purely Lebanese failure, stressing the need to form a national unity government.

As for some claims to include the return of relations with the Syrian regime in the ministerial statement as a condition for the Government formation he said: “then, frankly, the government will not be formed”.
