KRCS made outstanding achievements in '16 - Al-Sayer

21/03/2017

KUWAIT-- Thanks to the care and support of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) succeeded in delivering crucial assistance to needy people worldwide in 2016, Chairman of the Society Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer said.

"The Society threw weight behind humanitarian efforts in collaboration with international aid agencies and local partners in countries hit by natural or man-made disasters," he stated during the annual meeting of KRCS General Assembly on Tuesday.

"The Society will continue implementing aid projects in areas of educational, medical and food relief for hundreds of thousands of refugees from, and internally-displaced persons in, Syria, Iraq and Yemen as well as other parts of the world.

"KRCS also offers crucial aid to needy people in Sudan, Indonesia, Philippines, Serbia and Myanmar, which gained it international praise," Dr. Al-Sayer went on.

Besides its activities in sisterly and friendly countries, Society's Disaster Management and Emergency Unit assisted needy families inside Kuwait last year in coordination with local partners such as Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation (KAPF), banks and corporations, he pointed out.

Dr. Al-Sayer cited 'A'tehim Fursa' (give them a chance) as one of the educational aid projects meant to help poor student pay school fees and 'Al-Mutatawe Al-Saghir' (the young volunteer) club as an example of projects to promote the culture of voluntary action among the young people in the summer holiday.

He added that the Society celebrated its golden jubilee last year in the presence of His Highness the Amir, and had an impressive presence in several international conferences, symposia and workshops on humanitarian efforts.

He pledged that the Society will continue delivering its noble message in helping to alleviate the suffering of victims of natural and man-made disasters worldwide under the instructions of the wise leadership of the country.
