ELECTORATE OFFICER (EOA)

Applications are invited for the full-time position based in Parramatta.

The principal duties include:

• database and social media management;

• responding to constituent enquiries;

• preparing and coordinating correspondence;

• liaising with Federal, State and local Council offices;

• engaging community stakeholders; and

• local event management.

There is some capacity for the role to change according to the expertise of the applicant.

The skills most valued for this role include:

• An understanding of Australia’s system of government and parliamentary processes;

• Ability to work as part of a team;

• Excellent written and communication skills; and

• Management of Campaign Central, National Builder and Mail Chimp programs.

Selection criteria:

1. Extensive experience in electorate office or political positions is favourable;

2. Understanding of and ability to work with stakeholders within the local community;

3. Excellent database and social media management skills are a priority;

4. Demonstrated written and communication skills; and

5. Experience within the portfolio areas of either Citizenship and Multicultural Australia or Small Business would be of benefit.

The successful applicant would be expected to travel on occasion to Canberra for sitting weeks. During these times the successful applicant would be entitled to claim travel allowance.

The role is classified as an EOA position, offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2012-2015.

A commencing salary between $57,539.00 and $64,532.00 will be paid consummate with relevant skills and experience.

A probationary period of three (3) months will apply to the successful candidate.
